Boiling Water Reactor Technology

The BWR/4 technology course is designed to provide the student with a general familiarity with the mechanical instrumentation and control, and protective systems of the General Electric BWR/4 design. At the end of this course each student whould have achieved a basic understanding of the following: Major process systems, purposes, normal system configuration, and safety related flow paths. Major process instrumentation systems terminology, including selected interlocks and protection functions. PRA concerns in a change to the level of plant safety/risk as a result of system or component unavailability. There is a test at the end of this course and certain REAC positions will be required to take the test.

Course Length: 40 hours

Prerequisite: NRC Reactor Concepts (R-100)

Target Audience/Discipline: this course is intended for REAC Managers, REAC Reactor Analysts, and REAC Health Physicists, but others are welcome if there is room.

Scheduled Classes: There are no scheduled dates for this course.
